Bsoft LLC was contracted by State of Minnesota agency, Management Analysis & Development (MAD) to replace its project management/Timesheet management software.

The agency had been using a legacy system developed in CLARION with ISAM file database technology to manage its project and to track the timeentry by its staff.

Bsoft had not only to replace the existing Timesheet system but was required to migrate data that existed in the legacy system dating back as early as the year 1991. Bsoft LLC business analyst and technical team conducted detailed analysis of the MAD Timesheet system and the business process and came up with an appropriate milestone based approach to conduct DATA migration, adaptation of legacy data into the candidate Timesheet Reporting System from Bsoft.

There were strict guidelines as part of the contract with regards to security of the application, DATA etc. Bsoft developed complex SQL SERVER stored procedures (both T-SQL and .NET), triggers, Tables and views to accomodate all the required data points of the business process that MAD mandated as part of the system.

We developed tools in .NET that aided the migration of DATA from legacy database and provided a clean, intuitive web form based application that met all the business and process requirements of MAD.

Some of key challenges were automating workflow based data flow within the system. We also had to develop interfacing SSIS packages that aided DATA interface with the Timesheet System. The highlight of the project was the development and use of a reporting tool using which MAD could create complex DATA SOURCES (custom data definition) on their own and using the dynamic report builder could created any adhoc reports of their choice.

Bsoft also developed out of the box solution to create report templates for MAD use. This was a .NET windows forms based application that could be used in conjunction with the Timesheet Reporting System to generate custom structures for dynamic reports.
